Students row to success!

We have a huge number of enthusiastic rowers here at Chipping Campden School and are always pleased to hear about everyone's achievements in this discipline. Here is an update from students who train at Evesham Rowing Club; they've had some fabulous successes at recent regattas.

At the Hereford Regatta on 4-5 June Poppy Cullen from Year 8 coxed her first ever race in the WJ12 (Women's Junior) Coxed Quadruple Sculls and came in first position.

In the same event, Imogen Ledbetter and Isabel Clarke from Year 10 raced up a year in WJ16 Double Sculls class and came in first position. Imogen also raced in the WJ16 Coxless Double Sculls and won that too. They narrowly missed winning their WJ15 Double Sculls by a canvas but gave an excellent performance gaining a strong second place.

Meanwhile, at the Bridgenorth Regatta on 11 June at Bridgenorth Rowing Club, Sam McClenhan from Year 7 competed in his first race in the Single Scull and came in first position. Isabel and Imogen both rowed in the Women's Junior WJ15 Coxed Quadruple Sculls. They managed to win all their heats and won the final.

Finally, a little closer to home at Stratford-upon-Avon on 18 June, Imogen raced easily through the heats with her partner to win the final of the WJ15 Double Scull. Both Imogen and Isobel also raced in the WJ15 Quadruple Scull, winning all their heats and the subsequent final.

At the same regatta, Poppy and her rowing partner won the WJ13 Double Sculls. This is an amazing achievement for only their fourth regatta rowing together and against an experienced crew from Leicester in the final.

A huge well done to all involved. Keep up the determination, dedication and training – you just never know where it could lead!
