In December, Lewis Clark , one of our Y13 STEM Ambassadors found out he had won the Gloucestershire region Christmas Lectures competition, sponsored by the Summerfield Trust.

The prize was an all-expenses paid weekend trip to London with VIP audience tickets for the filming of one of the annual Ri Christmas Lectures, 'How to survive in space', hosted by space medicine expert Dr Kevin Fong.

Lewis said: "Dr Fong really brought the experiments alive and managed to keep all of our jaws firmly dropped. It was an honour to meet both him and astronaut, Dan Tani, who also helped with some of the demonstrations. It was an experience of a lifetime and I'm confident in saying the Ri Christmas Lectures are now going straight on my watch list for many Christmases to come! I'd like to thank everyone at The Royal Institution who helped organise my trip there, my Physics teacher Mrs J Flaherty for getting me this amazing opportunity, and finally my good friend Jack Virgo who came on this incredible trip with me."
