Annual Ogden Trust public science lecture

We are delighted to announce on that Monday 14 March we will be welcoming research scientist, journalist, author and TV presenter Dr Lewis Dartnell into school to deliver our 4th annual Ogden Trust public lecture.

The title of his lecture will be 'The Knowledge: How to Rebuild our World from Scratch' which is based on his international best-selling book of the same name. This fascinating compendium of facts was also awarded The Times 'New Thinking' Book of the Year.

The Knowledge is a journey of discovery, a book which explains everything you need to know about everything. This is a quick start guide for rebooting civilisation which will transform your understanding of the world – and help you prepare for if it's no longer here...

Lewis graduated from Oxford University with a First Class degree in Biological Sciences and completed at PhD at University College London in 2007. He is currently a UK Space Agency research Fellow at the University of Leicester, working in the field of astrobiology and the search for microbial life on Mars.

Alongside his astrobiology research he writes regular science articles in newspapers and magazines and has made a number of TV appearances on shows such BBC Horizon, Stargazing Live and Sky at Night. You will regularly see and hear him on TV and radio news as a space expert.

Dr Dartnell said: "I'm very much looking forward to my visit to Chipping Campden School, to meet the students and get them thinking about what science and technology knowledge you might need to rebuild civilisation from scratch!"

This thought-provoking talk will commence at 7pm and there will be refreshments on sale from 6.30pm. Tickets are free because of generous support from The Ogden Trust and can be obtained from school reception. The event is open to members of the public but as last year's lecture was a huge success tickets are likely to run out quickly. If are interested in coming please call 01386 840216 to reserve a ticket.
