Anne Ballard and fundraisers
Fundraising for the breast cancer support

We'd like to say congratulations to our Learning Supervisor Mrs Ballard and acknowledge all the enthusiastic fundraising she has done for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven which opened in March this year.

Mrs Ballard, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, has organised a number of events which has raised an amazing total of £2842.28 for the charity Breast Cancer Haven.

Cake sales, a non-uniform day, a sponsored leg wax (!) and 5km run have all contributed to help open a special service from a brand new state-of-the-art breast unit at The Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Worcestershire's new breast unit opened four months ago, providing a dedicated building where patients can see specialist NHS staff, be examined, receive a diagnosis and, if found to have breast cancer, hear about their treatment options.

Alongside this, the Breast Cancer Haven is currently providing emotional support and healthy eating advice, alongside a range of complementary therapies to support the patients' recovery – helping them deal with the side effects of treatment and navigate through difficult times.

We'd also like to say a big thank you to all the students, parents and staff who contributed to the fundraising efforts. In particular, well done to Frankie and Caitlin from Year 8 who raised over £100 by selling their homemade cakes and biscuits during the Wear it Pink Day back in October!

Treatment is open to anyone diagnosed with breast cancer and is free of charge. For more information go to
