Oxbridge-bound Angus coaches for success

One of our high flying ex-pupils has been returning to the classroom in order to help students prepare for forthcoming exams.

We have been very pleased to welcome Angus King, who has been back in on a weekly basis to mentor sixth formers through their maths studies since leaving school last year.

Since September the 19-year old, who has aspirations to complete a PhD at Cambridge University, has been working one-to-one alongside Year 12 and 13 mathematics A-level students, assisting with homework, helping with revision and further developing their understanding of the subject.

When this task is done, the high achiever is off to Queens’ College, Cambridge, to study his favourite subject – mathematics - after getting A* and A grade A-levels in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry in 2015.

Angus said: “During my year out I have enjoyed coming back to CCS in order to mentor students, and have found helping others a rewarding experience. I have always dreamt of going to Oxbridge, so am very pleased to be offered a place to pursue my maths studies. I will definitely miss the friendly and helpful teaching environment here at Chipping Campden, and appreciate all the additional opportunities that are provided to help students succeed.”

Angus is hoping to be joined at Oxbridge by two other Chipping Campden School students, Anastasia Unitt and Arthur Griffiths who have been offered places to study at Oxford and Cambridge respectively. Anastasia hopes to read applied biological sciences at Lady Margaret College whilst Arthur, is aiming to study geography at Downing College.

Joanne King, Head of Sixth Form said: “Chipping Campden prides itself in encouraging ambition in all of our learners. The school's guiding principle of 'Inspired to learn, empowered to excel' is a reality for Angus, Arthur and Anastasia who have secured these offers.”
