Chipping Campden School celebrates best ever GCSE results!

The number of students with top GCSE grades at Chipping Campden School has risen yet again this year at this already high performing school with 78% of all students achieving 5A* - C grades including English and Maths, up 8% from the school's strong performance in 2015. What's more, over a quarter (27%) of all GCSE results attained by students were the much coveted A* - A grades.

Unlike the national picture which is reported as showing a dramatic decline in this year's A* – C grades, a staggering 90% of Chipping Campden School students achieved A* – C in GCSE English with 82% achieving these same top grades in the challenging new GCSE Mathematics papers.

In addition, one in four students in Year 11 gained between 5 and 13 GCSE A*-A grades. Along with Virginia Thomas-Pickles who was overjoyed with her 9 A* and 2 A grades, Takaya Hemley gained 8 A* and 3 A grades, Samuel Grimshaw gained 8 A* - 2 A grades, Isuri Arachchi Sanchi gained 7 A* and 4 A grades, Phoebe Crabtree gained 7A* and 3 A grades as well as an AS in Philosophy & Ethics, with Nia Griffiths, Eleanor Turner and Eleanor Wright all achieving 6A* and 4 A grades. A further 38 students were thrilled with results that included at least 5A* and A grades.

In congratulating students and staff on such fantastic results, John Sanderson, the school's principal, said "I'm delighted to see so many students achieving such magnificent GCSE results, particularly in the face of a more challenging national picture. Staff and students have worked extremely hard and have every reason to feel proud of the fact that this has translated into the best results the school has ever had. The principal concluded his comments by adding "with such encouraging results we are really looking forward to welcoming so many of our students, along with almost 50 from surrounding schools, back into our outstanding sixth form in September".
